Emerald Vegan Necklace
Though the term ‘vegan’ was coined in 1944, the concept of flesh-avoidance can be traced back to ancient societies.
By studying the carbon in the hair of ancient Egyptians mummies, a team of French scientists were able to determine that Egyptians ate a primarily vegan/vegetarian diet on a very consistent basis. Given the abundance of resources available to this particular ancient civilization, a vegan diet was more of a choice than a necessity.
Ancient societies understood the delicate balances between nature, health and spirit. They also understood what consuming other living flesh and by-products would do to that balance; to not only with the environment, but a person’s physical and spiritual health as well.
